Christmas Wedding Editorial (Portland, Oregon)

We are so excited that this shoot was featured on 100 Layer Cake! This Christmas inspired styled shoot was so fun and refreshing to put together. I love the new trend of winter weddings and creating a shoot around Christmas was something that we hadn't done before. We chose navy, hunter green and cranberry as our color palette and added natural winter elements such as hazelnuts, pomegranates, pinecones, and cranberries. Our theme fit perfectly with the 600 acre Christmas tree farm & estate, Wonser Woods. The estate includes a gorgeous and sizeable home with so many cozy details and is located just outside of Portland, Oregon. The day was the epitome of a Northwest winter; cold, foggy, and drizzly which we love as Oregon natives! We swooned over the details that came from our talented vendors, many of which we have worked with before. Lindsay Helzer Floral Design created a stunning all greenery centerpiece and bridal bouquet. Working with all greens is no easy task but Lindsay pulled it off flawlessly like many of her other floral designs. Catherine Sewell of Sewell Sweets constructed an impressive white double barrel cake with copper drip and hand made leaves and berries. She never ceases to amaze us with cake artistry skills. The invitation suite is hand drawn with calligraphy by Jennifer Glover of Brush & Willow. I, personally, have a soft spot for gorgeous stationery. I also love unique place cards so using emerald silk ribbon was an easy choice and went well with the ornate wood chargers and copper silverware. We included a mahogany whisky bar complete with crystal decanters to create a warm and masculine feeling. With all of the elaborate decorations that surround Christmas I wanted to highlight the beauty that can come from a simple engagement ring and chose a fantastic minimal gold cluster ring by Trumpet & Horn. Our models Anya & Paeden are actually a real engaged couple that are set to be married in May. Their love for one another really shows in the photos and in person. The gown and veil that Anya is rocking was contributed by Lace & Liberty. For hair and makeup we went for a romantic and moody look which works well with the fog and winter theme. I can’t wait to see more winter weddings in the future!
